    Senior Director of Casino Marketing Strategy - Churchill Downs Incorporated (Louisville, KY)

    The position of Senior Director of Casino Marketing Strategy will function as a marketing, advertising, promotion, and player development performance consultant, team leader, and strategist for CHDN’s casino/racino operations and will report to the Senior Vice President, Gaming Operations of CHDN.  Currently, the properties within the scope of responsibilities for this position include Oxford Casino Hotel, Saratoga Casino Hotel, Ocean Downs Casino & Racetrack, Calder Casino & Race Course, Miami Valley Gaming & Racing, Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, Fair Grounds OTB’s, Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa, Riverwalk Casino Hotel and all new additions to the casino portfolio. 

    Responsibilities: 

    Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Gaming Operations (“Senior VP”), the Senior Director of Casino Marketing Strategy (the “Executive”) will be responsible for overall marketing strategy & execution across the casino gaming portfolio. 

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Assisting the Senior Vice President of Gaming Operations in the development of long and short term strategic plans for Churchill Downs Incorporated’s gaming division.

    • Assisting the Senior Vice President of Gaming Operations in directing operations to maximize EBITDA results and return value to shareholders.

    • Assisting the corporate business development team with evaluations and due diligence on potential new acquisitions and green-field projects.

    • Creating, managing and analyzing measurement metrics across all business units in order to facilitate inter-property decisions designed to meet enterprise-wide goals and optimal performance.

    • Working with the Business Intelligence team to design & create tools to improve insight into campaign performance, profitability, and return on investment.

    • Developing a mechanism to create a centralized library/portfolio of promotions, campaigns, giveaways, and kiosk games that can be utilized across the enterprise.

    • Maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of our various efforts and campaigns via direct mail, email, website development, social and interactive media, special events, promotions, and giveaways.

    • Increasing the effectiveness, efficiency, and profitability of our various player’s club structures and reinvestment strategies.

    • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure that programs and campaigns are designed to support effective post-event analysis and reporting.

    • Staying abreast of the latest new trends, products, markets or methods that would facilitate the growth and success of CHDN’s gaming operations.

    • Maintaining open and continual communication with CHDN marketing leaders to ensure optimal performance.

    • Assist the Senior Vice President of Gaming Operations in all essential duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate.

    The Candidate

    The successful candidate will have a college degree and a minimum of 10 years of significant gaming operations and marketing experience, preferably in multiple jurisdictions. Fundamentally, the candidate must be an “operator” having made or demonstrated the capability of making the transition to managing at the corporate level, communicating and working effectively with multi-jurisdictional, multi-property gaming and marketing leaders.

    The candidate must also bring the following experiences:

    • Intense knowledge of direct mail reinvestment strategy; all channels of advertising including web, social, and interactive; effective player’s club structure; and promotion & event planning and execution

    • A track record of driving cost efficiencies in addition to top line growth

    • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities

    • Integration experiences in connection with acquisitions

    • Experience evaluating and managing advertising agencies and marketing vendors

    • Significant experience designing and managing cost effective and productive player development teams

    • Design, copywriting, and media relations expertise

    • A track record of driving cost efficiencies without impairing top line growth or EBITDA

    • The successful candidate will also have or can obtain proper licensing where necessary

    Compensation:         

    The total compensation package consisting of salary and bonus will be consistent with the scope of the role.
