Job Summary

This individual works with the IT Teams and end users on IT related projects & initiatives in support of property applications and operations. This individual is expected to facilitate meetings to discuss end user requirements, status, issues, planning, training, and/or operational needs. This individual will write functional specification documents, test plans, training plans, deployment plans and policy and procedures in support IT operations and projects.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for timely and complete communications between corporate IT team and all property IT staff.
  • Perform analysis of the property applications needs and contributes to design, structure, and maintenance of the systems and architecture.
  • Analyzes business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications.
  • Ability to plan, estimate, and schedule multiple tasks and develop detail resource and project plans.
  • Possesses technical knowledge of most phases of systems analysis, and considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
  • Analyzes business requirements and defines information systems solutions to address complex business needs (requiring innovative and creative solutions and frequently involve multiple platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools).
  • Provides support to users in system and software administration and usage.
  • Communicate and coordinates maintenance schedule, backups, and downtime to users.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English both orally and written
  • Must possess 5+ years in Information Technology.
  • Ability to articulate/demonstrate 2+ major IT casino project implementations.
  • Experience understanding of gaming system software applications. Aristocrat Oasis gaming application experience a plus.
  • Experience in general Windows & SQL Server functionality, operations and security.
  • Experience understanding of the major business processes within Gaming.
  • Experience with planning, budgeting, and common business processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to obtain gaming license(s) in jurisdictions where required.

Job Summary – We are seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Developer who can work across a range of technologies and interact with stakeholders/partners across the company. The perfect candidate can apply a breadth of knowledge, technical skills, and strategic thinking to build a data warehouse to answer important questions across a variety of areas including our casinos and racetracks.   We are a small team and need flexible individuals that have a strategic viewpoint and technical expertise to grow our data warehouse.  This position is critical for building a strong foundation for a long-term Enterprise Data Warehouse. You need to be passionate about working with data, get a thrill from business people gaining insight based on your work, and be detail oriented. 

Essential Functions:

  • Work with business users to understand their problems, data analysis, data modeling, ETL development and quality assurance
  • Use agile methodologies to deliver and succeed on projects
  • Comfortable with fast paced work environment.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • 5-8 years of experience working in a data warehouse environment using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Five years of experience using SQL in a data warehouse environment, designing, implementing and maintaining operational data store and dimensionally modeled database systems
  • Five years of experience designing and developing Extraction, Transform and Load (ETL) processes in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Three years of experience using C#
  • Strong experience using SQL including complex stored procedures, common table expressions, analytic functions, query optimization, and indexing
  • Experience using agile/scrum methodologies to iterate quickly on product changes, developing user stories and working through backlogs

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with MicroStrategy
  • Experience working with multi-terabyte data sets
  • Experience designing and building enterprise conceptual or logical data models
  •  Working knowledge of data management and data warehousing technologies related to data modeling, database administration and performance tuning, archiving and disaster recovery
  •  Ability to effectively communicate at different levels in and across the organization and to articulate to non-technical audiences the advantages and disadvantages of using various technologies and standards

Senior Director - Income Tax Accounting - Churchill Downs Incorporated (Louisville, KY)


This position is responsible for managing the tax accounting process pursuant to ASC 740.  Specific responsibilities include the determination of US federal, state, local and non-US affiliate corporate tax provisions, maintenance of tax basis balance sheets, deferred tax calculation and support, estimation of book-to-tax differences, and preparation of the quarterly/annual SEC tax footnote. This position will also be expected to migrate the tax provision environment from an Excel based model to a OneSource Tax Provision environment.

The individual assuming this position may also need to assist with tax compliance, audits and special projects on an as-needed basis. The individual will develop effective working relationships with management, as well as finance and other operating personnel.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA required, Masters in Taxation preferred
  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in taxation is required and a mixture of public accounting and industry experience is preferred. 
  • Excellent financial acumen and thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with OneSource income tax software preferred
  • Detail oriented, professional demeanor, strong organization and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior / executive management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication / presentation skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to cultivate working relationships throughout the organization


  • Ensures income tax reporting and related disclosures are complete and accurate in financial statements

  • Ensures interim quarterly consolidated effective tax rate and tax forecast are complete and accurate

  • Ensures proper design, operation and maintenance of SOX controls related to taxes

  • Ensures proper application of income tax accounting and other accounting pronouncements including proper application of newly created accounting pronouncements

  • Meet with external auditors re: income tax reporting matters

  • Assist with the income tax compliance process for federal & state jurisdictions

  • Assist with income tax filings
