Administration/General Management: Receptionist/Switchboard
Seasonal Call Center Agent / Receptionist - Churchill Downs Racetrack (Louisville, Ky)

GENERAL INFORMATION

2017 Spring Meet Race Dates: April 29 through June 30, 2017

Approximately 28-40 hours per week (except Derby week and/or during other weeks including a premium race day which will likely require overtime with more than a 40 hour work week)

Must be able to work weekends and some evenings as assigned (during premium events such as Downs After Dark or Twilight Thursday)

Must be able to work Opening Night and through Kentucky Derby week, April 29 - May 6 (long days), and on Kentucky Oaks and Derby days, May 5 & 6, from approximately 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Answer and direct inbound calls from very busy main switchboard in a professional manner
  • Respond to and resolve customer inquiries in a prompt and professional manner utilizing available resources
  • Greet guests, answer questions and resolve customer issues in very busy lobby/reception area. Notify appropriate staff member when a guest or visitor arrives. Direct guests to appropriate areas during live race and simulcast operations.
  • Track, resolve and monitor guest complaints and feedback received through various channels. Respond to guests and/or forward to appropriate personnel for follow-up as necessary. Identify and escalate priority issues to management.
  • Discuss special events with guests, communicate details, answer questions and note feedback for future improvement. Provide suggestions and feedback to improve the overall guest experience.
  • Monitor guest inquiries received during live race meets and dispatch GSR to resolve problem as appropriate
  • Assist with additional Guest Services and CDRT tasks and projects as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Must be people-oriented with a dynamic and energetic personality.

Must possess good communication skills, problem solving capability, and have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while in fluid work environment.

Must be a team player.

Must demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.

Prior experience working with the public and/or working knowledge of the horse racing industry preferred.

Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, some evenings and some holidays.

Computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel experience required

Track/Slot Operations: Usher/Ticket Taker
Seasonal Ticket Sales Attendant - Churchill Downs Racetrack (Louisville, KY)

The Churchill Downs Racetrack Ticketing Department has an opening for a seasonal Ticket Sales Attendant. This position will report to the Box Office Manager and is responsible for assisting in the fulfillment of gate admissions and ticket selling needs.

Positions are available for:

  • Kentucky Derby and Oaks: May 5th and 6th
  • Derby Week: April 29th - May 6th 
  • 2017 Race Season: May/June, September, and November.

Job Duties would include:

  • Serve as a box office team member, assisting all walk up sales at the gates and box office window.

  • Serve as an admissions gate team member by assisting all patrons that enter the facility and reviewing the status of scanned tickets as necessary.

  • Assist in the fulfillment of ticket requests and will call by verifying the accuracy of ticket orders.

  • Accepts payments and makes change accurately.

  • Keep daily balance sheet of cash received and tickets sold; submit cash to Box Office Manager for audit.

  • Work to ensure customer's needs are fulfilled and ensure the customer receives outstanding service while assisting with general venue and event information.

  • This position will require some standing during shifts at gates.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Represent Churchill Downs in a professional manner inside and outside the organization.
  • Be respectful to colleagues and function in a team environment.

Education / Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED required. 

  • Ticketmaster Archtics system knowledge is preferred.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated professionalism and diplomacy.

  • Ability to exercise sound business judgment generating effective solutions quickly and/or raising issues to management as necessary.

  • Team player with an exceptional customer service attitude.

  • Strong PC skills.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including some holidays, weekends, evenings, and race days.

  • This position requires completion of a background check.

Track/Slot Operations: Security
Security Officer - Churchill Downs Racetrack (Louisville, KY)

Our Security Officers guard company property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Patrols all buildings, ground facilities and properties owned and/or operated by Churchill Downs on foot, by vehicle or other mode(s) of transportation.

-Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine they are secure.

-Warns violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles. Promptly alerts appropriate supervisor of persons engaged in suspicious or criminal acts.

-Proactively observes and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.

-Performs monthly inspections of all fire extinguishers in all buildings, ground facilities and properties owned and/or operated by Churchill Downs.

-Observes arriving personnel and/or patrons to ensure against inappropriate material or objects being brought onto company property.

-Observes departing personnel and/or patrons to guard against theft of company, employee or patron property.

-Records data such as: property damage, unusual incidents, and malfunctioning equipment in appropriate format (including incident reports).

-Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic at all entrances to maintain orderly flow.

-Signs for and accepts deliveries.

-Answers telephones and relays messages after normal business hours.

-Perform other related duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
-High school diploma or GED or 1 to 3 months of related experience and/or training is required.
-A valid driver’s license is required.
-A positive background check is required prior to employment.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated professionalism and diplomacy.
-Must be able to demonstrate the ability to exercise sound business judgment generating effective solutions quickly and/or raising issues to management as necessary.
-Must demonstrate a team player spirit with an exceptional customer service attitude.
