    Sales & Marketing: Event Operations/Management
    Event Manager - Arlington International Racecourse (Arlington Heights, IL)

    Position Objective:

    Responsible for the planning and execution of Events at Arlington Park Racecourse during the racing season as well as Off?season Special Events, Internal Events, and Expos. 

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  

    • Maintain and build client relations, by working closely with group customers and internal departments to coordinate all details of each event including food, beverage, audio-visual, entertainment, and any other logistics while, maintaining the highest level of service.

    • Liaise with Event Operations Manager and Facilities Operation Manager to cooperatively collaborate on events to deliver best results serving customer and company objectives.

    • Monitor event execution ensuring all departments deliver on event expectations to achieve company objectives and targets.

    • Effectively utilize “Delphi” sales and catering database system to track event details, food and beverage needs, and other specifics.

    • Communicate all event details to staff, other departments and management.

    • Communicate all billing and secure final payment from customers in a timely fashion.

    • Contribute to overall revenue expectations and maximize revenues with up?sell opportunities.

    • Support fellow Event Managers as needed to balance workloads.

    • Plan and coordinate race day events, special events, Expos, Ride and Drives as assigned

    • Complete tasks pertaining to the overall operation of the department, and support the team as a key leader.

    • This position requires evening and weekend working hours.  

    • During the race season schedule is Wednesday through Sunday unless otherwise scheduled to accommodate special events.

    • Assist as additional requests arise.

       

      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      Supervise and guide support staff along with the cooperation of all departments to deliver on event expectations.

      Personal Qualifications:

    • Working knowledge of food and beverage or event industry required.

    • Excellent customer service and communication skills are necessary.  

    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while interacting with internal departments as well as meticulous attention to detail and excellent time management. 

    • Demonstrate professionalism and common courtesy at all times.

    • Performs duties with sense of urgency and ownership.

    • Ability to exercise sound business judgment and generate effective solutions quickly as necessary.

    • Proven experience being client focused, build and maintain customer relationships while balancing business expectations and standards.

      Education, Training, and Experience:

      Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) from a four?year college or university in Business/Hospitality Management or related fields; and two to three years of experience in the hospitality industry with related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Computer application skills (Excel, Outlook, etc.) and ability to write reports and business correspondence required.

    Track/Slot Operations: Security
    Public Safety Officer - Night Shift - Arlington International Racecourse (Arlington Heights, IL)

    Position Objective:

    This position is under the direct supervision of the department supervisors and the Security Manager for assigned shift of the Security Department and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors.

    Job Description:

    Our security officers are here to promote safety and security to Arlington International guests, employees, and the facility.  We are willing to provide on the job training to individuals with a can-do attitude.  These seasonal positions begin in April and last through October, but exceptional performance and conduct may result in a full time position!  Vigilance, dedication, and reliability are a must! 

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Continuously patrol buildings and grounds, docks or work sites.  Racecourse property to include, but not limited to, Grandstand, Trackside, Backstretch, and Parking Areas
    • Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are in proper working order and secure, in accordance with access control policy
    • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts
    • Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred
    • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and security doors left unlocked
    • Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property
    • Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.  Permits authorized persons to enter property.
    • Records and reports data such as property damage, unusual occurrences and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
    • Maintains Crowd control in and around the property.  Directs the public to designated parking areas.
    • Review and understands the departments standard operating procedures
    • Diligent in managing and executing standard operating procedures
    • Work as security team member in assisting as additional requests arise
    • Incident response and report writing
    • Other duties as assigned

    Personal Qualifications:

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
    • Ability to write detailed correspondence. 
    • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 
    • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.  
    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
    • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

    Ability to work 11:00pm to 7:30am and week-ends and holidays. 

    Education, Training and Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
