Track/Slot Operations: Food/Beverage Management
Cook / Prep-Cook - Arlington International Racecourse - Waukegan OTB (Waukegan, IL)

We are seeking a responsible, self-starter with excellent people skills for a part time Cook position.

Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays nights and another day during the week (approximately 25 hours per week).

Primary duties:

- Assisting with daily preparations and preparation lists

- Cooking food in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served

- Preparing produce for service

Track/Slot Operations: Custodial/Housekeeping
Housekeeper / Custodian - Arlington International Racecourse (Arlington Heights, IL)

Position Objective:

Keep premises of facility in clean and orderly condition.  Assist guests courteously, and efficiently.  

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleans and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Cleans offices, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways and all other areas of the facility.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floor.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies.
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.  Polishes metalwork.
  • Washes walls, ceiling and woodwork.  Washes windows, door panels and sills.
  • Empties and cleans wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Disinfects restrooms and replenishes bathroom supplies. 
  • Transports small equipment or tools between departments.  Sets up tables and chairs when necessary.
  • Performs setup and teardown of special events as scheduled.
  • Maintains work area and storage areas secure and in an orderly fashion.
  • Reports damage to equipment or facility to the supervisor or manager.
  • Operates 2 way radio
  • Has a basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and daily care of equipment.

  • Must be able to work flexible schedule which includes working holidays, nights, and weekends.

Public Safety Officer - Arlington International Racecourse (Arlington Heights, IL)

This position is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors.

Job Description:

Our public safety officers are here to promote safety and security to Arlington International Raceourse guests, employees, and the facility. We are willing to provide on the job training to individuals with a can-do attitude.

Vigilance, dedication, and reliability are a must!

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Continuously patrol buildings and grounds, docks or work sites. Racecourse property to include, but not limited to, Grandstand, Trackside, Backstretch, and Parking Areas.
  • Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are in proper working order and secure.
  • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
  • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and security doors left unlocked.
  • Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
  • Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Permits authorized persons to enter property.
  • Registers at watch stations to record time of inspection trips.
  • Records and reports data such as property damage, unusual occurrences and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
  • Maintains Crowd control in and around the property. Directs the public to designated parking areas.
  • Review and understands the departments standard operating procedures
  • Diligent in managing and executing standard operating procedures.
  • Cash escort duties.
  • Work as security team member in assisting as additional requests arise.

Personal Qualifications:

This position is under the supervision of the Public Safety Manager for assigned shift of the Security Department and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors.

  • Must be familiar with IRB rules and regulations and ensure compliance with the same.

Position Objective:

Support the sales department by providing frontline assistance to current and potential guests of Arlington Park.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for generating revenue through the sales of ticket packages and restaurant reserved seating

Seasonal Event Coordinator - Arlington International Racecourse (Arlington Heights, IL)

Position Objective:

Assist in the day-of coordination and execution of all events planned by Sales Department in designated venues.  Assist Guest Services Department as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:                     

  • Meet with Event Managers and Event Operations Manager to discuss Daily Events and Banquet Event Orders
  • Help with day of coordination and execution of events planned by the Sales Department
  • Perform administrative functions as they relate to the Sales department
  • Interact with Clients to deliver on event expectations
  • Assist groups with the load in and load out process. i.e. ticket arrangements, décor, rented linen, auction tables, auction items, entertainment, etc.
  • Ensure Group venues are properly set for each event; make any setup adjustments as necessary; confirm catering and guest service personnel are in place and prepared.
  • Assist Event Managers and Client with any last minute setup changes including, but not limited to moving of tables, hanging of banners, and displaying merchandise
  • Monitor all aspects of service within the venue including Food and Beverage, Mutuels, Facilities, Audio-Visual and Guest Services
  • Enforce Arlington Park policies to include dress code, carry-in policy or other applicable rules
  • Create and place event signage
  • Use catering software system to run catering and event reports and update event orders
  • Print event tickets by venue and execute delivery method per BEO
  • Work as team member in assisting as additional requests arise

Position Objective:
Responsible for creating an environment of great customer service through action. Responsible for greeting customers, disseminating information, and enforcing policies while maintaining a professional and hospitable manner.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

All Roles:

  • Drive the “Arlington Experience” by providing all guests a positive first impression and offering superior, individualized service
  • Interact with guests to help provide an unmatchable experience
  • Enthusiastically greet guests and direct them to the appropriate seating, group venue, or restaurant locations
  • Provide guests with accurate information about events and activities in and around Arlington International
  • Educate guests on wagering and racing basics

  • Conduct day-of sales when applicable (training provided for ticket system; basic comfort with technology REQUIRED)

Box Seat Usher (Reports to Guest Services Box Seat Supervisor)

  • Guide guests to the appropriate seat while outlining features and regulations of the area
  • Ensure that area is accessed only by ticketholders
  • Keep aisles and exits clear to comply with fire code
  • Troubleshoot seating issues and provide alternative solutions

Admission Scanner (Reports to Guest Services Gate Supervisor)

  • Utilize scanning technology to allow entry into facility
  • Direct guests to ultimate destination
  • Monitor guests as they leave, wishing them a good night, and troubleshooting any end-of-day problems; ensure guests do not exit the premises with alcohol
  • Safely and pleasantly maneuver guests in wheelchairs during complimentary drop off and pick up service

Bag Checker (Reports to Guest Services Gate Supervisor)

  • Ensure that all incoming bags/parcels are in accordance with Arlington International’s carry-in policy
  • Determine if parcel should be charged fee and, if applicable, process payment
  • Monitor guests as they leave, wishing them a good night, and troubleshooting any end-of-day problems; ensure guests do not exit the premises with alcohol
  • Safely and pleasantly maneuver guests in wheelchairs during complimentary drop off and pick up service

Venue Host/Hostess (Reports to Guest Services Venue Supervisor)

  • Coordinate with other department staff to ensure venue is ready for group’s arrival
  • Collect venue tickets and exchange for area access pass
  • Maintain guest count for billing purposes
  • Field client concerns and work with other departments toward satisfactory resolution

Seasonal Mascot - Arlington International Racecourse (Arlington Heights, IL)

Position Objective:

Develop the character of Arli, the Arlington International Racecourse mascot, and promote the Arlington brand by performing as Arli on race days and by scheduling appearances and performing as Arli at community outreach events.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform as Arli during all Sunday Family Day race days during the 2017 season and interact with fans throughout the facility to enhance their Arlington Experience
  • Perform as Arli during community outreach events and act as an ambassador of Arlington
  • Actively research, pursue and schedule appearances at community events for Arli and the Arlington Street Team

Seasonal Promotional Team Member - Arlington International Racecourse (Arlington Heights, IL)

Position Objective:

Promote the Arlington International brand by serving as an ambassador at community events and special events taking place at the racetrack.  Team members must be outgoing and energetic individuals who can showcase creativity alongside the hands-on implementation of Marketing team initiatives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Arlington ambassador at events throughout the community as well as occasional on-site events at Arlington International and represent the Arlington brand with positivity and professionalism.
  • Assist with logistics for community events including setup, execution and tear down.
  • Implement strategies to optimize data capture during all community events.
  • Actively contribute ideas for new community events for the promotional team to attend.
  • Distribute brand and promotional collateral throughout the community.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Arlington International, including venues, events, promotions, history, etc.
  • Engage with supporters, clients, vendors and community members.
  • Help manage the inventory of promotional supplies, equipment and giveaways.
  • Assist with Guest Services and other department initiatives as required.
  • Capture community engagement by assisting with photography of activation and occasionally social media promotions.

Personal Qualifications:

  • Must be available for approximately 15-20 hours a week, varying dependent on Arlington International schedule of events.
  • Weekend and holiday availability is required. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays from April through September.
  • Must be outgoing, energetic, friendly, people-oriented, a team player, courteous and able to communicate clearly and accurately.

Position Objective:

Our Service Supervisors are responsible for providing high quality customer service to all Off Track Betting (OTB) patrons.

The position requires the ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative in a variety of operational areas, including but not limited to pari-mutuel wagering sales.       

                                                                                                           

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

In this position you will:

  • Operate the Off Track Betting window by explaining, accepting, and redeeming all pari-mutuel wagers for guests
  • Follow operating procedures for all cash transactions including payment of winning tickets, program sales, and daily money draws
  • Explain wagering types and pools along with racing program information (training will be provided)
  • Exemplify the Arlington brand by providing our customers with an excellent guest service experience
  • Facilitate the printing and sales of racing programs
  • Adhere to internal, local, state and federal gaming laws, regulations and policies
  • Assist customers in the use of self-service terminals
  • Promote and register customers for rewards programs and contests
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Shift Supervisor - Waukegan OTB - Arlington International Racecourse - Waukegan OTB (Waukegan, IL)

Position Objective:

This position is responsible for providing administrative, clerical and management support services under the direction of the OTB Assistant Manager.  The position requires the ability to work independently, supervise employees, exercising judgment and initiative in a variety of operational and administrative areas.

                       

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recommends, revises and establishes programs and procedures to enhance the OTB operations in personnel, administration and accounting.

  • Has a good understanding of mutuels, can efficiently generate mutuel tickets for customers and understands the types of wagers. Ability to train tellers to efficiently service the customers on the mutuel line

  • Ability to protect and reconcile money room, balance tellers racing program sales and F&B Sales.

  • Provides administrative assistance to Assistant Manager and General Manager as requested including preparation of correspondence and reports. 

  • At the direction of or in the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Managers, uses discretion in handling minor customer service and operational issues.

  • Responsible for operating and maintaining office equipment; arranges for repairs when necessary.

  • Implements administrative polices and procedures in compliance with federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations including personnel issues. 

  • Prepares and coordinates accident reports and workers compensation reports.

  • Receives and sorts incoming mail, express envelopes and courier deliveries; distributes mail.  Prepares and posts all outgoing mail and express envelopes.

  • Excellent communication skills are a must.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned
