This position is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors.
Job Description:
Our security officers are here to promote safety and security to Arlington Park guests, employees, and the facility. We are willing to provide on the job training to individuals with a can-do attitude. These are seasonal positions begin in April and last through October, but exceptional performance and conduct could result in a full time position! Vigilance, dedication, and reliability are a must!
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Continuously patrol buildings and grounds, docks or work sites. Racecourse property to include, but not limited to, Grandstand, Trackside, Backstretch, and Parking Areas.
- Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are in proper working order and secure.
- Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
- Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
- Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and security doors left unlocked.
- Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
- Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Permits authorized persons to enter property.
- Registers at watch stations to record time of inspection trips.
- Records and reports data such as property damage, unusual occurrences and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
- Maintains Crowd control in and around the property. Directs the public to designated parking areas.
- Review and understands the departments standard operating procedures
- Diligent in managing and executing standard operating procedures.
- Cash escort duties.
- Work as security team member in assisting as additional requests arise.
Personal Qualifications:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education, Training and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Accounting Intern will participate in a range of activities consisting of journal entry preparation and input, account reconciliation, spreadsheet data entry and analysis, bank reconciliation, statistical data collection and reporting, and filing. The students selected will be responsible for coordinating with and assisting the Marketing Department at Arlington Park with daily execution of marketing, sponsorship and promotional events, activities and programs.
These include sweepstakes, giveaway/contests, collateral placement, customer loyalty program, television production, research, public relations functions and other marketing related programs. These duties will involve coordination with other departments within Arlington Park and marketing vendors to execute these events and activities. These programs have significant interaction with Arlington Park patrons. The internship is designed to give applicable marketing experience to students by exposing them to each stage of marketing activities: conceptualization, planning, execution and evaluation.
Weekends and summer holidays work are required. The average workweek is 32 hours limited to 40 hours per week. Arlington Park will work with the respective scholar programs to fulfill requirements for class credit hours as it is also a requirement for the interns as well as being of junior or senior standing.
There are two concentrations within the Marketing Internship Program:
Entertainment – Entertainment interns will help plan and execute Arlington Park programs such as Party in the Park and Family Day where entertainment is hired to perform for guests. In addition to executing entertainment events, the Entertainment intern will support the Marketing Department with other programs such as giveaways, grass roots marketing, outreach, and community events.
Promotions – Promotions interns will plan and execute engaging consumer promotions such as sweepstakes, contests, Text 2 Win promotions, and sponsored promotions. In addition to executing promotions, the Promotions intern will support the Marketing Department with other programs such as entertainment, giveaways, grass roots marketing, outreach, and community events.

Computer Skills

In this position, the intern will have a great deal of customer interaction. The ability to interact with customers effectively and professionally is essential for this position.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the intern must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Promotional execution includes table and tent set up, distribution of promotional items and clean up. Interns will be expected to work outside regardless of the weather. Professional business attire is required at all times.
